Shortly before 3 p.m., the Brenham Fire Department and Salem Volunteer Fire Department were called to a structure fire in the 2600 block of Triangle Z Lane, off of Tigerpoint Road.  Units made location to find a two-story residence with heavy fire.

Additional manpower and water tenders were requested from the Chappell Hill, Berlin, Latium and Meyersville Volunteer Fire Departments.

Units battled the blaze for several hours, clearing the scene about 7:30 p.m.

The home suffered heavy damage.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The call was one of six over the weekend for the Brenham Fire Department.

Just past 9 p.m. Saturday, firefighters were dispatched to a crash at Highway 36 North and Blue Bell Road.  They made location to find a two-vehicle crash, with one vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway and the other in the middle of the roadway on its side.  Units used struts to stabilize the car that was on its passenger side, removed the windshield to gain access to the patient and helped remove them from the vehicle.  The department then provided traffic control and checked both vehicles to make sure no fluids were leaking.  Once both vehicles were removed from the roadway, firefighters returned to service.  The fire department reported that no one was transported.

Approaching 3:45 p.m. Sunday, the fire department and City of Brenham Gas Department responded to a gas odor at Twisted Oak Drive and Woodside Drive.  The departments checked the area for a leak or smell, but after investigation, the fire department cleared the scene.

The fire department also received three calls out to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, but each call was a false alarm.
