BURGLARY, ASSAULT AMONG CHARGES IN THREE ARRESTS FOR SHERIFF’S OFFICE
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported three arrests between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sergeant Ruth Belman responded to a theft call in the 9200 block of Highway 290 East. The caller stated that an individual had entered the premises and removed two bags of charcoal and a shopping cart. The suspect, along with the shopping cart, were located behind another business in the area. 59-year-old Joe Lee Phillips of Brenham was taken into custody for an active warrant and transported to the Washington County Jail, where he has been charged with Burglary of a Building, Theft of Property $100 - $750, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
At 9 p.m., Sergeant Adam Zavala responded to a disturbance in the 13100 block of Mertins Creek Lane. The caller claimed he had been struck in the back by his wife. Upon making contact with both parties, the sheriff’s office stated that the wife admitted to the attack. 22-year-old Abigail Lynn Wiesepape of Brenham was taken to the Washington County Jail for Assault by Contact – Family Violence.
Close to 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Deputy Delilah Pena was dispatched to the 7400 block of Highway 36 North regarding a welfare concern. Upon arrival, Deputy Pena observed a vehicle to be stuck in a culvert and made contact with the driver, who reportedly displayed signs of intoxication. The driver, identified as 51-year-old David Anthony Flores of Houston, was taken into custody and booked at the Washington County Jail on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More.
