FORMER BRENHAM ISD AG TEACHER, FFA ADVISOR CURTIS FUCHS PASSES AWAY

  

A longtime agriculture educator in Brenham who served as a teacher and mentor for generations of students has died.

Curtis Fuchs passed away on Saturday at the age of 77 after a battle with Parkinson’s Disease. 

Fuchs was an agriculture science teacher and FFA advisor in Texas for 43 years, including at Brenham ISD from 1981 to 2013.  He also operated CF Cattle Company with family members.

Fuchs’ contributions to education led to his induction in 2022 to the Agricultural Teachers Association of Texas Ag Teacher Hall of Fame.  In 2020, the Santa Gertrudis Breeder International Shows and Exhibits Committee dedicated the National Santa Gertrudis Show to Fuchs. 

Additionally, Fuchs was named the Washington County Farm Bureau’s Outstanding Ag Educator in 2017 and the Washington Soil and Water Conservation District Conservation Teacher of the Year in 2018.  He was also a Conservation Teacher Region III Runner-Up in the Texas Conservation Program and had a scholarship named in his honor for a Brenham FFA student of excellence.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.  A funeral service and celebration of life will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton.
