FOUR ARRESTED AFTER BEATING, THREATENING TO KILL MAN IN RURAL GRIMES CO.

Four people have been charged in Grimes County with multiple felony offenses, in the midst of an assault and burglary case involving several agencies.

Carl Ray Holmes
(Grimes Co. Jail)

Shortly after 4:15 a.m. the morning of May 20th, Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent out to a residence in the 12000 block of South Fork Lane in the Iola community.  The office received reports of multiple people involved in a physical altercation.

Investigators learned from witnesses that the victim had been brought to a pasture at the home, where they said he was stripped of his clothing, “intensely beaten” with firearms and threatened by someone holding a knife to his throat. Witnesses said the victim was forcibly put into a vehicle by his assaulters, who then left the location.

Naomi Lynn Durfee
(Grimes Co. Jail)

The suspects were located May 21st in northeast Houston.  With help from Houston police, the suspects were arrested, who told investigators that the victim had burglarized one of the suspect’s home in College Station, one week before the incident.

The suspects attempted to lure the victim to an apartment to make a narcotics deal, then forced him into a vehicle and drove into rural Grimes County. The suspects were said to have beaten the victim, demanding information from him on the property previously stolen.

The victim was located by College Station police detectives, who said he had extensive head injuries.
