SOMERVILLE MAN KILLED, WIFE CRITICAL AFTER MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT AT HIGHWAY 105/FM 912

A Somerville man was killed and his wife is in serious condition after a motorcycle accident Sunday evening on Highway 105 in Washington County.

According to DPS, 36-year-old John Travis Winn was driving with 31-year-old Kathryn Johann Winn shortly before 6 p.m. in the eastbound lane of Highway 105 at FM 912, about eight miles west of Navasota, when their motorcycle was struck by a Ford F-250 pickup attempting to turn west onto Highway 105 from FM 912.

A secondary crash occurred on the same roadway when a third vehicle, a Ford F-150 pickup, struck the motorcycle driver.

John Winn was pronounced dead at the scene.  Kathryn Winn suffered severe injuries and was taken in critical condition to St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan.

Neither of the drivers of the pickup trucks were injured.

The roadway was shut down for almost three hours, diverting traffic onto FM 912.

A separate motorcycle accident was reported around 3 p.m. on Highway 36 northbound, north of Hickory Creek Road and south of Kenney.  DPS only reported minor injuries to the subject.

  1. I went to school with John. We sat at lunch together every day throughout high school. He was a good guy and will be missed dearly! May his wife recover for their child
