BRENHAM’S CAPITAL ONE BANK CLOSING NOVEMBER 18TH

The Brenham branch of Capital One Bank will be closing its doors for the last time Saturday, November 18th.  In a letter sent to account holders in August, bank officials said the local branch and ATM machine will close permanently at noon on Saturday, Nov. 18.  Amanda Landers with the Capital One Corporate Communications Office said that the decision was made based on the long-term cost, real estate and customer needs of this market location. She added that employees of the Brenham branch can post for roles at other Capital One locations or receive a severance package, including retraining assistance if they’re not able to find another role within the company.  The Brenham Branch joins other Capital One locations that have closed or are being closed in Weimer, Giddings, Columbus, Sealy, and Warton.   Local customers are being advised to switch to Capital One Mobile Banking, or go to the nearest location, in either Cypress, Katy, or Conroe.

The Brenham Capital One Bank is located at the corner of Main and Market Streets. That location was originally the site of the St. Anthony Hotel until the current building was constructed in 1963 for South Central Savings and Loan.  It has also served as the location for Guardian Savings and Coastal Bank.  Brenham Branch manager Donna Ross said that there are currently no plans for the building and that it will go on the real estate market when the bank closes.
