HARVEY SETS RAINFALL RECORDS

  

Harvey broke the record for total rainfall in the Continental US while dumping flooding rain over Harris County and the City of Houston.

According to the National Weather Service, 49.2" of rain fell at Mary's Creek at Winding Road between midnight August 25th and 9:20am August, 29th.

The previous record for rainfall from a tropical system in the US was 48.00".

This is a preliminary report and could potentially increase as Harvey slowly moves away from Southeast Texas today (Wednesday).
