NEW HOUSING LEADS LIGHT MONTH OF BUILDING PERMITS
This February saw a light month for building permits in Brenham.
A total of 16 permits were issued by the City of Brenham in February 2019, for $1,376,492. Last February, 29 permits were issued, worth $2,366,836.
February’s largest permit was for one of two new homes on Oak Hollow Lane, for $409,000. The homes are being built by Thielemann Construction.
Last month, four new residence permits were issued, with two of those being the previously mentioned houses. Each of those permits totaled $1,054,190. So far this year, 14 new residences have been permitted, for $2,047,650.
A notable permit last month was issued for leisure pool modifications at the Blue Bell Aquatic Center, for $123,000. The project is being contracted out to Progressive Commercial Aquatics.
This year, 43 permits have been issued for $5,219,077. While there was a similar number of permits issued through this point last year, at 48, those totaled $12,665,209.
One of the largest contributors to last year’s early permit totals was the 80-unit multi-family apartment complex at 800 Hosea Street. That permit was issued last January for $6.5 million.
