Blinn College football falls to New Mexico Military, 45-42

Buccaneers’ season concludes with a 4-5 record

ROSWELL, N.M. — The Blinn College football team fell to New Mexico Military Institute, 45-42, on Saturday night to conclude the season.

The Buccaneers finished the season with a 4-5 overall record and 2-5 conference record.

At one point, the Bucs were 4-1 and ranked #9 in the NJCAA, but dropped their final four games to finish with a losing record for the first time since 2013.

“I love our sophomores and respect their love of the game, so am definitely going to miss them,” said Ryan Mahon, Blinn head coach.

Brock Landis led Blinn with three touchdown passes, while Eric Peterson caught two touchdown, Trea Shropshire and Danny Gray each caught one, and Devin McAdoo and CJ Jones each rushed in a touchdown.

New Mexico Military took an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter before the Buccaneers landed on the board with two touchdowns in the next quarter. Landis and Peterson connected for both touchdown passes to outscore New Mexico Military, 14-7, in the second quarter. The Broncos  held a 21-14 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, the Buccaneers scored 21 points as Devin McAdoo and CJ Jones each rushed the ball in, and Landis threw a touchdown pass to Trea Shropshire. Blinn’s final touchdown was scored in the final quarter when Landis threw a touchdown pass to Danny Gray.
