WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER RESOLUTION, PUBLIC HEARING FOR ENERGY PROGRAM
Washington County Commissioners will meet Tuesday to continue the steps of implementing a Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program in Washington County.
Commissioners will consider a resolution of intent to establish the program in the county, and set a public hearing date on the program for Tuesday, February 4th at 9 a.m. during commissioners court. The resolution was tabled at the court’s last meeting, due to the court agenda only listing “discuss”, not “discuss and act upon”.
The program allows property owners to lower operating costs and use savings for eligible water conservation, energy efficiency, resiliency, and distributed generation projects. Through the program, property owners are granted access to private, long-term financing options for commercial, industrial, and multi-family properties.

Also in court Tuesday, commissioners will consider rescinding a tax phase-in abatement for the Valmont Coating building and equipment, located at 2551 Valmont Avenue. Last year, Valmont relocated Brenham’s galvanizing kettle to a facility near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Washington County Judge John Durrenberger said this is a “voluntary” withdrawal of the abatement, and that Valmont has paid all its dues to the county.
Commissioners will also consider:
- Renewal of the Telemedicine Services Agreement between the county and the Texas A&M University Health Science Center on behalf of the College of Medicine for providing telehealth counseling services at the Washington County Health Services Center.
- A resolution authorizing the county’s environmental health department to submit a grant application for funding to conduct a household hazardous waste collection event for Washington County residents.
- Setting the rental fee for the ExpressVote voting machines
- A series of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Commissioners will meet Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., at the Washington County Courthouse.
