REPORT: SHERWOOD FOREST FAIRE CLOSING DUE TO VIRUS CONCERNS

According to an Austin television station, Sherwood Forest Faire has announced the event is now closed, despite social media posts to the contrary.

Officials with the Faire had stated they were planning to remain open through April 19.  However, according to KVUE-TV, following Bastrop County's state of disaster declaration, the event is now closed.

The annual, medieval-style event located in McDade, was being held Saturdays and Sundays from Feb. 29 to April 19.

Bastrop Co has declared a state of disaster which prohibits the gathering of 50 or more people.

Austin health officials have diagnosed several people in Travis County with coronavirus since March 13, resulting in numerous event cancellations in Travis County and neighboring counties.

In a Facebook post on Friday, event organizers reassured the public they would remain open.  However, the event has been cancelled as of Monday night.
