BURROW GOES #1 IN DRAFT; COWBOYS GET A TOP WIDE RECEIVER
As expected, Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow went to Cincinnati with the top pick in Round-1 of the NFL Draft, Thursday night.
In fact, much of the first round went mostly as expected, without much fanfare.
The first surprise came midway through the first round, when Cee Dee Lamb of Oklahoma, considered by some as the top wide-receiver in the draft, fell to the Dallas Cowboys at number-17.
Lamb (6’ 2”, 190 from Richmond, TX), was a three-year standout for the Sooners, catching 173 passes for 3292 yards and 32 touchdowns. He averaged 19 yards per catch in his three years in Norman.
The Texans did not have a first-round pick due to the trade with Miami for Laremy Tunsil. Houston picks #40 and #90 in Friday’s second and third rounds.
Three players from Texas colleges were selected in the first round: Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU, Eagles; Jordyn Brooks, LB, Texas Tech, Seahawks; and Jeff Gladney, CB, TCU, Vikings.
