BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO POTENTIALLY SELECT FINANCIAL ADVISOR, BOND COUNSEL FOR BACKUP WATER WELL

The Burton City Council will look to move forward in the process of installing a backup water well at its meeting Tuesday.

Councilmembers will approve a pair of resolutions selecting a financial advisor and bond counsel to assist the city if it is awarded funds through the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) for the installation of a second well.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, the council will consider going out for bids for mowing, edging and other maintenance of city properties.

The council will also take action on the closure of North Railroad Street between West Washington Street and the post office on Halloween from 5 to 8 p.m.  The closure is for the 2nd Annual Trick or Treat Trail in downtown Burton, hosted by the Burton Heritage Society, Burton Chamber of Commerce, and the Texas Cotton Gin Museum.

Councilmembers will also consider approval of a 900 square-foot site built home to be built at 802 North Main Street, as well as a variance to an ordinance regarding minimum square footage for a home located at 519 Nueces Street.

The council will meet Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 p.m.  Due to lack of space at Burton City Hall, the meeting is only open to the public via conference call.  The call-in information for the meeting is posted below.
