Friday’s fire at the Stone Hollow Apartments damaged several units and left 13 families, totaling 37 people, facing uninhabitable living situations.

Faith Mission Executive Director Reverend Randy Wells said nine of the 13 families have been housing in local hotels, and each family has been offered services including housing, hot meals, clothing, cash, diapers, baby formula, counseling and case management.  Eleven of the 13 families are expected to return to the apartments this week.

A lunch was provided for fire victims on Sunday at the Cannery Kitchen.  After the lunch, Vicki Wehmeyer and Renee Mueller of the American Legion Auxiliary provided 40 chicken spaghetti dinners for families.

Rev. Wells said there has been an outpouring of support from local churches, civic groups, corporations and the community.  He said “whenever and wherever there is a crisis, the people of Washington County always step forward to assist their neighbor.”

Apartment Manager Akia Adams thanked Faith Mission and its partner agencies for helping residents in their time of need, saying the organization arrived on site the night of the fire and immediately offered support to the displaced families.

Adams, along with Thomas Maldonado, have set up GoFundMe accounts asking for donations to assist their families in replacing items lost in the fire.

…and may the Lord reward you for your kindness.
Faith Mission and their entire team continues to bless our community with their support, guidance and love. Many people have benefited from the lending of a “hand up” NOT the hand out that Faith Mission provides.
    Thank you.
