TWO MORE LARGE DONATIONS FOR BRENHAM HERITAGE MUSEUM

The Brenham Heritage Museum received two large donations this past week as it continues to renovate the historic post office building in downtown Brenham and create new exhibits.

A gift of $50,000 comes from Mimi and Leon Toubin, Fran and Jeffrey Toubin, Robin and Brad Stein, and Rachel and Andrew Toubin in memory of Rosa and Sam Toubin.  A second donation was made by Charles W. Schwartz.

The Toubins have called Brenham their home since the arrival of Leon Toubin’s grandparents and great-grandmother in the 1890’s.  They are known for their retail business downtown, the establishment of Toubin Park and their continuous support of the B’nai Abraham Synagogue.  Their name will grace the Education and Meeting Room in the restored museum building.

The donation from Charles W. Schwartz will ensure that the Resource Room is named in honor of Walter C. Schwartz, a leader of Blinn College and Brenham city government.  The Walter C. Schwartz Resource Room will house computer stations to provide researchers access to information on the history of Brenham and Washington County.

Brenham Heritage Museum officials plan to re-open the museum in 2022.

The Toubin and Schwartz donations join those from Blue Bell, the Hasskarl family, Sissy Miller and Tiffany Morisak whose previous donations reached the naming rights level.

The museum continues to look for other community leaders and partners to participate in its capital campaign to restore the museum, ahead of a planned re-opening in 2022.

  1. Look into saving the old Blue Bell plant off Chappel Hill St it’s becoming an eyesore but needs to be preserved even dip a ice-cream sandwich shop would be nice with the industrial feel of the old plants past history & equipment inside would be a good draw
