WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO VOTE ON BID FOR JAIL GENERATOR

Washington County Commissioners will potentially accept a bid for a new generator at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office when they meet Monday.

In June, the court issued requests for proposals for a 750 kilowatt generator through the American Rescue Plan Act.

At the time, County Judge John Durrenberger said commissioners had explored various options to reduce costs or pursue a smaller generator, but had “exhausted all of those possibilities.”

The county has gone through several steps to secure a replacement generator for the sheriff’s office and jail since March 2021.  The jail has used a temporary generator since December.

Also on Monday, the court will take up a revised lease between the Washington County Fair Association and the Washington County Expo for the use of Expo facilities during the county fair.  The amendments to the lease, which was originally approved on May 17th, primarily consist of minor adjustments to language in the lease.

In other action, commissioners will consider:

  • Reappointing County Judge John Durrenberger to the Brazos Valley Board of Directors for a three-year term beginning October 1, 2022 and ending September 30, 2025.
  • A proclamation honoring Reverend Johnnie Williams for his 60 years of service.
  • A final plat for the Bluebonnet Ridge subdivision, a residential development consisting of 36 lots and four roads on Chadwick Hogan Road in Precinct 2.
  • Formal notices from PGMS for a two-inch road bore for a one-inch water line on Old Gay Hill Road and Mt. Vernon Road in Precinct 3.
  • A formal notice from GeoSouthern Chalk II, LLC for a temporary lay flat water line 12 inches or smaller on Harmon School Road and Oevermann Road in Precinct 4.

Commissioners will meet Monday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
