Our look at the Precinct 2 county commissioner’s race continues with Jim Chisolm, who is running against William “Bubba” Herrin, Amanda Klehm and Mark Schonefeld for the position coming open with Candice Bullock’s decision to not seek another term.

Chisolm has served as a CEO of several healthcare organizations and as a consultant for healthcare companies across Texas and the nation, as well as an officer in the United States Air Force.  He currently operates Texas Star Winery in Chappell Hill with his wife, Susan.

Chisolm says the public safety services offered by volunteer firefighters, the sheriff’s office and EMS – and dedicating the resources needed to support them – are paramount to keeping the community viable.  He says water rights and economic development are key concerns moving forward, with the latter being crucial as the county sees an influx of retirement-age individuals.

Chisolm says the county commissioner position is a “full-time job” and plans to treat it as such, pledging accessibility and availability to constituents.

KWHI is asking each candidate questions about what is driving them to seek office, the top issues facing the county, and their communication plans with the public.

Early voting gets underway on Tuesday, February 17th.  Election Day is Tuesday, March 3rd.
