TRAVIS SEMORA SUBMITS RESIGNATION FROM WASHINGTON CO. PRECINCT 2 J.P. OFFICE

The appointed judge for Washington County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace has submitted his resignation.

Travis Semora, pictured speaking during a
Washington County Commissioners court meeting
on December 23, 2025, has announced his
resignation from his position as judge in the office
of Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace. Semora was
sworn in in November to serve out the remainder of
Douglas Cone's term, after he stepped down to run
for county judge.

Travis Semora informed KWHI this (Monday) morning that he has tendered his resignation from the position.  He has held the role after being appointed in November to fulfill the unexpired term of Douglas Cone, who stepped down upon announcing his candidacy for county judge.  Semora declined further comment.

Washington County Chief of Staff Carrie Marmol confirmed Semora’s decision.  She stated, however, that similar to how Kirk Hanath has been serving as the holdover Precinct 3 commissioner after declaring for county judge, Semora must remain with the justice of the peace office until the county is able to appoint a replacement, or until the winner of the election for the seat is sworn in.

Holly Johnson, who serves as the office’s chief justice clerk, defeated Semora in the March 3rd Republican primary for the position.  She will not face a Democratic opponent in November.

A timeline was not immediately available for when the seat will be filled.
