TWO MOTORISTS RUN OFF HIGHWAY 290 THURSDAY

Washington County EMS crews responded to two traffic cases in which the vehicles ran off the road.

An EMS team came to a bridge in the 7300 block of Highway 290 west at 5:45 this (Thursday) morning.  A  55-year old driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, ran off the road and under a bridge.  For a few moments he was floating in a shallow pond of water.  He was able to get out of his vehicle, unhurt.

Later in the morning, an elderly woman driver ran off the road near the Fireman’s Training Center.

Washington County EMS Director Kevin Deramus says a woman suddenly drove off the road at about 8:45am.  He says this was more of a case of an medical emergency rather than a traffic incident.  The woman was transported to the Scott and White Hospital for treatment.  There is no further word on her condition.
