BURTON SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES 2015-2016 CALENDAR

  

The Burton School Board approved the calendar for the 2015-2016 school year at their meeting last night.  The next school year in Burton will begin on Monday, August 24th and end on Friday, May 27th.  Burton graduation will also be on May 27th.

In other action, the board voted that the funds from the sale of the old Elementary School will go into the school operating fund. The old Elementary School campus is being purchased by American Kinetics for $245,000.  A 10 ton air-conditioner on the property was vandalized in December and has since been replaced.  The closing date for the sale is scheduled for next week.

The board voted to apply to the Texas Education Agency for a low attendance waiver for December 15th of last year because of student absences due to the flu.

The board nominated Leslie Boehnemann to serve on the Washington County Appraisal board and voted to extend the contracts of the Burton Athletic Director, both Principals, the school counselor and the special education coop director.

The next Burton School Board meeting is set for March 26th at 6:30 at the Administration Office in Burton.
