CITY COUNCIL ACTS ON SUMMER ACTIVITIES

Summer is here and so are many of the activities that the city of Brenham has become known for at this time of the year.

The Nancy Carol Roberts Library is beginning its summer reading program next week.  Deputy City Secretary Amanda Klemn told Thursday’s meeting of the City Council that since the Library is in its temporary location at the Brenham City Hall Lobby, the program needed a different place to begin the program.  That place would be the amphitheater at Hohlt Park,  next Tuesday at 10am.  Even though this is a daytime event, amplified speakers would be used, so a variance on the noise ordinance was needed.  The City Council approved.

The series of concerts and street dances known as Hot Nights, Cool Tunes begins one month from now.  There will four concerts on each of the Saturday nights in July.   Obviously a noise ordinance variance was needed for this and the city council granted it.  The City Council also requested a temporary right of way closure for parts of business 290, through downtown Brenham.  This  is Alamo and Main Streets.
