BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO MEET IN EXECUTIVE SESSION TODAY

A special executive session of the Brenham City Council has been called for this (Thursday) morning at 11:30 in conference room 2A of City Hall.

The only item on the agenda is “Consultation with the City Attorney for the Purpose of Seeking Legal Counsel Regarding Brenham Police Department Matters, Personnel, and Associated Issues.  Brenham City Manager James Fisher said this morning that the matter did not have to do with the hiring of a new Police Chief but concerned another matter.  Fisher added that it was not anything critical, but that the city attorney wanted to discuss the matter with the entire council to get some direction from them on how to proceed.

Brenham began the search for a new Police Chief in January, shortly after Chief Craig Goodman abruptly resigned.  Approximately 95 people have applied for the Police Chief’s position.  Fischer says the applicants are from across the country and include experience in positions from chief to lieutenant.  A list of semifinalists for the Police Chief position is being compiled.

  1. Wow,, almost a hundred applicants for Brenham police chief. Those in charge of the county could learn from the city of Brenham. If you would pay more in the salaries you get a better and bigger pool of applicants. Change is coming hopefully to turn this county around. Take a lesson from how city of Brenham does it and spends the funds to get things done!!
