BRENHAM, BLINN CANDIDATES SPEAK AT POLITICAL FORUM

Transparency, economic projects, and affordable housing were just some of the topics discussed by candidates at Wednesday night’s Candidate’s Forum at Brenham National Bank, hosted by KWHI.

Each of the six candidates across the City of Brenham and Blinn College’s contested elections came to answer questions from a modest crowd.

Brenham candidates answered questions such as:

  • What projects do you envision as important to the city’s future?
  • What specific recommendations do you have to improve traffic flow?
  • How do you suggest solving the lack of affordable housing?

Meanwhile, Blinn candidates were asked:

  • How do you plan to address the perception of low morale at the college?
  • What does shared government look like to you?
  • What are the major issues facing Blinn in the near future?

Running for mayor of Brenham, incumbent Milton Tate spoke on the city’s stability and strength during his time in office.

Challenging Tate is former mayor and Washington County Judge Dorothy Morgan, who said her balanced approach will lead the city well moving forward.

Incumbent Ward 4 Councilmember Danny Goss said he has been grateful to have made an impact for the city over the years, and plans to continue doing so.

Challenger Adonna Saunders said a fresh set of eyes will greatly benefit the council as it prepares for the future.

Seeking At-Large Position 3 on the Blinn Board of Trustees, Dennis Crowson said his experience and knowledge of the College would make him an asset to the board.

Also running for At-Large Position 3, H.F. Poehlmann, who said the board is sorely in need of a member with extensive teaching experience.

Early voting begins April 22nd, with Election Day on May 4th.
