NFL/PLAYERS AGREE ON TESTING POLICY–NO PRE-SEASON GAMES

The NFL and its players have reached agreement on the testing aspect of their COVID-19 safety protocol as training camps get set to open over the next couple of weeks.

Dr. Allen Sills, the league's chief medical officer, said that the agreement between the NFL and the NFL Players Association would require daily COVID-19 testing for the first two weeks of training camp. After two weeks, if the positive test rate is below 5%, the league would scale back to testing every other day. If the positive test rate is not below 5%, they will continue with daily testing.

The NFL on Monday made an offer to the NFL Players Association to play no preseason games this summer.

The players had been pushing to not play preseason games this year, and the league had been seeking to play two games instead of the usual four.

The league's proposal to the players includes an offer for a longer training camp acclimation period that is closer to what the union proposed.

The NFLPA has not yet informed the league whether it will accept the proposal.

The Texans and Kansas City Chiefs rookies reported Monday, and the full-squad reporting date for most teams is July 28.

The Texans will travel to Kansas City to open the season, Thursday, September 10th, live on AM 1280 KWHI and FM 101.7.
