A long-standing pharmacy in Brenham is joining another longtime pharmacy at the start of next month.

Kenjura Pharmacy is merging with Norman’s Pharmacy, who will begin taking Kenjura’s patients effective April 1st.

Atwood Kenjura, pharmacist and owner of Kenjura Pharmacy for 50 years, says this was an emotional decision and one that took a lot of time to make, but he feels this move will be of benefit to patients.  He said he is thankful for the many relationships made over the years.

Norman's Pharmacy

There has been a pharmacy location at 303 North Park Street for almost 70 years, dating back to Roy Wiese Pharmacy in 1953 before Kenjura purchased the location 50 years ago.  Norman’s Pharmacy, located at 2105 South Day Street, has been operating in Brenham since 1977.

Alton Kanak, owner and managing partner at Norman’s, says this transition works because the two pharmacies have similar operations and philosophies.  He does not expect the general public will notice much of a change.

Kenjura says there will be no interruption of services for patients, adding that the phone number for Kenjura’s will be set up to roll over to Norman’s when dialed.  Some of his employees are retiring, while he and others will move over to Norman’s to oversee the transition, at least temporarily.

Kenjura says Girling Community Care will not move from its current location at 305 North Park Street, and while he does have plans for the future of the pharmacy location, he is not quite ready to publicly announce them.  Kanak says he does not currently intend to expand the space at Norman’s.
