A GoFundMe has been set up to help with medical expenses for the man seriously wounded in a drive-by shooting at a Burton convenience store this past weekend.

Bradley Locke was flown to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan after being shot several times Sunday afternoon at the Burton Short Stop.

According to the GoFundMe page, Locke has undergone “extensive surgery,” and has suffered damage to several organs.  The page states that while Locke’s condition is still serious, he appears to be improving.

The suspected shooter, 36-year-old Joshua Christopher Crowley of Round Rock, was arrested Monday afternoon in Harris County and is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak said the shooting appeared to be random.

Crowley’s son, 4-year-old Wyatt Crowley, was with him at the time of the shooting, and was at the center of an Amber Alert.  He has been safely reunited with his mother.

The GoFundMe for Locke is available here.

  1. Praying for his full recovery.

Kind of a shame we live in a country where people have to beg for money for medical reasons. Because that’s what GoFundMe is… begging for money. I know people think it’s “socialism”, but wouldn’t it be better if his care & recovery was part of what any American gets, and not just the rich or employed.

Hope he is better, and on his feet soon!

  2. I am wondering why Joshua Christopher Crowley is not being charged with “Attempted Murder”.

My prayers are for the recovery of Bradley Locke.

    1. Because there are too many elements to attempted murder to prove and quit a bit less with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Aggravated assault is a 2nd degree felony that carries about the same punishment.

    2. I believe the reason is that for an attempted murder charge, prosecutors would have to show a clear motive for his actions, while the assault charge can proceed and be prosecuted without knowing his intention or not.
If he were to be given the maximum sentence on everything that he is charged with, he would likely be looking at a total of 120 years + in jail.
