FAYETTE CO. JUDGE JOE WEBER TO SPEAK DURING RADIO-ONLY MEMORIAL DAY PROGRAM

Fayette County Judge Joe Weber will be the featured speaker for this year’s local Memorial Day program.

The Washington County Veterans Association (WCVA) will not host an in-person program at the American Legion Hall at Fireman's Park, but KWHI will air Memorial Day programming next Monday, May 31st, beginning at 10:45 a.m.

Weber was a member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, and upon graduating from the university in 1972, he began 36 years of service as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps (USMC).  Over the course of his military career, he served in assignments throughout the United States and overseas, commanding at all levels and serving in a variety of senior staff positions.  He retired from the USMC in 2008 at the rank of Lieutenant General.

In 2014, Weber was named TxDOT’s executive director.  During his time in the position, he was responsible for the planning, programming, construction and maintenance of the state’s transportation system.  He  was elected in November 2018 to serve as Fayette County Judge.

In addition to Weber’s keynote speech, the program will also feature patriotic music and messages from local elected officials.

The program will be broadcast on KWHI AM 1280, FM 101.7, and kwhi.com.

The WCVA is selling tickets for a drive-thru only, barbecue beef and pork sausage lunch on Memorial Day at the American Legion Hall.  Tickets are available in advance only from WCVA members, Dan’s Meat Market, Felder’s Buy and Bye, and Robert’s Service Station.  All proceeds will go to veterans groups in Washington County.
