Another edition of the Washington County Fair is in the books.

The 153rd installment of the fair came back in full force this year after 2020’s event was limited to exhibitors only.

Fair President Keith Mikolajchak said it was great to be able to return to a full fair setting.

The fair kicked off on Saturday, September 11th with the parade through downtown Brenham and continued with livestock judging the following week.

Opening ceremonies on Wednesday saw Emma Marth be crowned Washington County Fair Queen, after selling 2,608 tickets for $104,325.  Each of the four queen candidates sold 5,173 tickets for $206,910.  Kinsley Porche and Ayden Clay were named this year’s Little Miss and Little Mister, while Stevie Donnell was named Junior Miss and both Brazos Supak and Teagan Thompson were named Junior Mister.

Friday’s Junior Livestock Auction broke the total sales record set in 2019, as unofficial totals amounted to $922,247 for the 260 lots in the auction.  According to Mikolajchak, the commercial heifer sale on Saturday brought in over $1.2 million.

Meanwhile, a music lineup of The Anthony Moreno Band, Eliseo Robles, the Crossroads Band, Jon Stork, Kody West, Carson Jeffrey, Giovannie and the Hired Guns, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Rick Trevino and Clay Walker entertained guests throughout the fair.

As planning begins for the 2022 fair, Mikolajchak said many people appreciated the addition of the video boards that broadcasted events happening around the fair, so those will likely continue to be used.

The Washington County Fair Association thanks the volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, vendors and attendees for supporting the fair and making it possible each year.

KWHI and KTEX-106 also thank the community for their support, as the two stations raised a total of $885 from spins of the Wagon Wheel of Prizes during the fair.  All proceeds from the Wagon Wheel will go toward the victims of Hurricane Ida.
