The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana says the man arrested in Austin County on Sunday was wanted for the death of his mother.

34-year-old Stephen Wayne Myers, II of Crowley, Louisiana was booked into the Austin County Jail on charges of felony home invasion, child endangerment and second degree murder.

According to a release from Acadia Parish Sheriff KP Gibson, deputies were contacted on Saturday regarding a suspicious circumstance in western Acadia Parish off of Bamboo Road near the city of Jennings, roughly halfway between Lake Charles and Lafayette.

Deputies were advised by the caller that they had not heard from a family member since the evening of Tuesday, November 2nd.  Investigators searched a field area where the family member was last seen with her son that day.  As they searched the area, they located 59-year-old Pamela Myers, dead with trauma to the facial area.

Investigators determined that Stephen Myers had left Louisiana and traveled to Austin County with a family member on Friday.  Investigators then traveled to Austin County and met with the Austin County Sheriff’s Office.

Acadia Parish officials say Myers fled the residence he was staying at when deputies arrived.  The home, according to the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, was located in the 8000 block of FM 529, east of Bellville in the Burleigh area.  Myers was located not far from the residence after a search involving Austin County SRT members, K-9 units and air surveillance.

Myers will be extradited to Acadia Parish on the second degree murder charge and other outstanding warrants.

Sheriff Gibson thanked Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes and the entire Austin County Sheriff’s Office, who he says “did not hesitate to assist” in capturing the suspect.
