ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICERS TO THE RESCUE

Recently, Brenham Animal Control received a call from Scott Martin out of College Station. He was upset because his elderly parents who live on Highway 290 in Washington County needed help.  Their large elderly dog Grizzly, a sheepdog mix, had gotten himself stuck in the mud of a dried-up pond. After calming him down and getting the information for his parents, Animal Control called Officers Meagan Mc Carrell and Lauren Roese, who were out finishing up a prior call.  They immediately jumped to action and notified Cheri Martin, the mother of Scott Martin, that they were on their way.

When they arrived on scene, they found old Grizzly stuck shoulder deep in mud. Grizzly had been let out early in the morning before sunrise to go do his business and walk the property as always. After some time had gone by, they became worried and went out looking for him and that’s when they found him stuck in the mud. Many hours had passed before animal control got the word of the dog in need. Struggling and sinking deeper the Martins tried to get him unstuck, but due to their age they were unsuccessful. Megan and Lauren waded out deep into the pond and after many attempts, Grizzly was free.  The happy pup was reunited with his family, and they were ever so grateful.
