SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR APRIL
Sales tax rebates increased this month for all three local taxing entities.
Washington County’s rebate saw a 7-percent increase over April of last year, with a refund of $208,436 – up 7 percent from the April 2017 rebate of $194,738.
So far this year, Washington County has received $920,768, up 6.9 percent from the $861,049 it received over the same period last year.
Brenham’s April rebate was $480,391, up 4 percent from last April’s $461,728.
For the year, the city has received $2,045,878, up 0.3 percent from 2017’s $2,089,650.
Burton received $5,108 this month, up 6.1 percent from a year ago at $4,816.
So far in 2018, Burton has received $23,115, up 10.5 percent from last year’s $20,923.
Comptroller Glenn Hegar said cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts received $651 million in local sales tax allocations for April, up 5 percent from April 2017.
