REFINED LADIES OF BLINN COLLEGE HOST FASHION SHOW

Children from the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County got to walk the runway during a recent fashion show hosted by the Refined Ladies of Blinn College.

Blinn students acted as runway models while accompanied by children from the Boys & Girls Club. The Refined Ladies raised $111.15 for the club through raffles, pizza sales and donations.

“The kids were a little scared at first, but once they went through with the modeling then it turned into a great confidence booster for them,” said Phelicia Marshall, director of operations at the Boys & Girls Club. “The children didn’t know how they would be received but after receiving cheers, all of them came back with smiles.”

The Refined Ladies of Blinn College was established last fall and hopes to make the fashion show an annual tradition.

“The children loved interacting with the Blinn students and opening up,” Marshall said. “I am just very glad that people are thinking of ways to help us out.”

There are roughly 13 members of the Refined Ladies club that aims to teach young ladies confidence and self-respect.

“The Refined Ladies are a group of young women that continually works to become better people,” said Kirsten Richardson, president of the club.
