BLUEBONNET FESTIVAL SET FOR THIS WEEKEND IN CHAPPELL HILL

The state's official Bluebonnet Festival is happening this weekend in Chappell Hill.

"Our community of Chappell Hill has been preparing for what we expect to be one of the largest crowds in history for this year’s Bluebonnet Festival,” stated Joel Romo, President of the Chappell Hill Historical Society.

The festival is historic, originating as an antique show and now flourishes as one of the largest arts & crafts festivals in the state.

"The festival attracts antique and art collectors from throughout Texas to our area which benefit our local businesses, vendors and provides the opportunity to connect with festival arts & crafts artists also from throughout the country" says Romo. "Not only do folks enjoy the vintage shopping, enjoy the picturesque landscapes, but they also enjoy the charm of our community and the opportunity to enjoy a day in the country with friends and family,”

This year, there are over 250 juried vendors, plenty of children’s activities and of course plenty of food and beverages for the entire family.

Live music can be enjoyed throughout both days which includes acts such as upcoming artist Abigail Taylor, Gary Durrenberger and Julia Hatfield to name a few.  This year there will be an exhibit of past Bluebonnet Festival posters and artwork which will be on display at the Chappell Hill Historical Society’s Museum now and through the month of April.

"The festival also offers an opportunity to tour many of the historic buildings that offer a look into Texas history and Texas’ independence" says Romo. "Only an hour from downtown Houston, families can enjoy the picturesque countryside and welcome in the spring season while celebrating the state flower, the Texas Bluebonnet."

KTEX's Cactus Ken will be there broadcasting live from the Friendly Country Cruiser.

  1. Come on out Nana’s Kettle Korn will be there. The weather will be beautiful so come earlier to beat the crowd’s.

  2. Here’s hoping the people working the festival parking and traffic have figured out a way to prevent 290 from backing up to the river. Not getting my hopes up.

    1. CHHS leadership has asked DPS for traffic control assistance for years. They refuse even though they are quite aware of the situation. It is beyond frustrating for the volunteers who put on this great event every six months.
