WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER BOND ELECTION ORDER FOR PECAN GLEN ROAD DISTRICT

Washington County Commissioners will potentially order a bond election for the newly created Pecan Glen Road District at their meeting Tuesday.

After holding a public hearing to consider a petition from the road district asking for a bond election, commissioners will vote on an order calling a bond election and making provisions for conducting it.  If approved, the bond election will be held on May 1st, with early voting from April 19-27.

The district, which was formally established on December 22nd, is located on approximately 138 acres between Old Mill Creek Road and FM 389, and covers roads in the Pecan Glen subdivision including Desirable Circle, Success Court, Pecan Glen Road, and Stuart Road.  The boundaries of the county election precincts that are wholly or partially within the boundaries of the district would be designated as the voting precincts of the district for the election.

The district’s purpose will be to issue no more than $950,000 in bonds for constructing, acquiring, improving, maintaining and operating roads.  Any bonds issued by the district will be paid through ad valorem taxes levied on all taxable property within the district; only homeowners in the district will be taxed.

In a related matter, commissioners will also consider a resolution for an agreement with Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe LLP to serve as bond counsel to the road district.

Commissioners will also meet in executive session to discuss economic development negotiations regarding a second amendment to the agreement between the county and BK Stringer, Ltd., in relation to the Baker Katz shopping center project.  The court will then reconvene in regular session to potentially vote on the amendment to the agreement.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, commissioners will consider:

  • A new rental contract for the Washington County Expo.
  • The purchase and installation of fiber throughout the Washington County Expo from J.C. Communications.
  • The purchase and installation of IT infrastructure equipment for the Washington County Expo, including barns one, two and three, sales facility, VIP building, event center, entertainment and beer barn, rabbit barn and food court.
  • A resolution designating an engineering service provider for the 2021-22 Texas Community Development Fund application and project implementation, administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture.
  • Approval to pay Faith Mission a monthly dollar amount to act as the director of operations for the Health and Service Center, to be determined annually by commissioners during the budget process.
  • New Human Resources position descriptions.
  • A 60 day extension of 185 excess vacation hours for David Zelders with EMS.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse Annex.

  1. When this Subdivision was created The Developer ( Owner of Property ) was responsible for Road Maintenance , We had Inquired about a Lot there years ago and was told that the owner that was selling Developer would take care of road maintenance, Why are they now NOT responsible . Sounds like Fraud to me.

    1. I am a resident in Pecan Glen. We sued the developers. Spent a lot of money. Judge ruled against us. Don’t ask me how or why. This is the only thing left that we can do. Going to spend more money added on to only our taxes. Great neighborhood though.
