FORMER CUBETTE COACH TINA YOUNG DIES AT 47
Former Brenham High School volleyball and assistant softball coach Tina Young died Monday at her Houston-area home after a long battle with lung cancer.
Young, coached and taught at Brenham in the mid 1990’s, and spent the last 10 years coaching softball and volleyball at Houston Memorial.
She will forever be linked to Cubette softball history, as an assistant coach on the 1996 Cubettes, the first 4A State Softball Champions in UIL history. A team that included current Cubette head coach Jamie Maurer and Burton Lady Panther head coach Kathy Shedd.
Young was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2009. In August, the cancer spread to her brain, and she retired from teaching.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chapelwood Methodist Church in Houston.
