Texas A&M linebacker Josh Walker, a potential starter on the Aggies defense this year, has been arrested on domestic violence charges.

According to the Houston Chronicle and Brazos County Sheriff's office records, Walker was booked shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday night on charges of Assault Causing Bodily Injury to a Family Member and with Interfering with Emergency Request for Assistance.

The College Station Police Department says a dispute between Walker and his girlfriend, whom he reportedly pushed down, led to the arrest.

Authorties say the victim tried calling 911 on her phone but Walker grabbed it out of her hands.  He then reportedly gave her his phone to call 911, but took that one away as well, and put it in his pocket.

Officers report that Walker failed to hang up the call, however, and the dispatcher could hear the two arguing.

A child was reportedly in the apartment at the time, but was not involved in the assault.

Texas A&M announced in a statement that Walker has been suspended immediately, per athletic department policy.
