AUSTIN AREA RESIDENTS BEING POUNDED BY 10 INCHES OF RAIN; MORE EXPECTED

  

Residents in the Austin area are under a flash flood warning until 1:15pm, with reports of rivers in the area overflowing after receiving nearly 10 inches of rain this morning, according to the Lower Colorado River Authority.

The National Weather Service says that an additional two or three inches is still possible in the area.

There are approximately 5600 persons without power in the area, and area schools are in lockdown mode, where students must stay inside the building. Also, door and windows are closed and locked.

School has been canceled in San Marcos and Texas State University is delaying classes until noon.

Bergstrom Airport in Austin has also been closed until the storm passes, with reports of lightening in the area.
