BRENHAM TENNIS MEDALS AT CONROE TOURNEY
Members of the Brenham Varsity tennis team participated in Conroe Tigers Invitational tennis tournament on Friday.
In Boys A singles Dalton Barron lost a close match in the first round to Kingwood Park 4-6, 7-5, (7-10 in super tie-breaker) He then went undefeated the rest of the day beating Magnolia West 8-4, and Klein Collins 8-2 to win the consolation draw.
In boys B singles Hunter Griffin won a close first round to MacArthur 7-6(10-8), 7-6(8-6). He then won against Conroe 2-6, 6-2, (10-3 super tie-breaker). Unfortunately after the first two wins he had to withdraw due to injury.
In girls A singles Kaitlyn Hamilton lost her first match to Klein Forrest 3-6, 6-7(4-7). She then went on the win against MacArthur 8-7(7-4), and Livingston 8-3 to win the consolation draw.
In boys B doubles the team of Andrew Trostle/Gunnar Smith lost first round to Mag West, however was able to beat Kingwood Park 8-1, and then Willis 8-4 to win the consolation draw.
In girls A doubles Abby Figueroa/Kathryn Robinson lost their first round, however was able to win two more matches to win the consolation draw.
In mixed doubles the team of Karlie Weidemann/Spencer Flynn played very well winning their first match vs Willis 6-4, 6-3. Then played against Kingwood park winning 6-3, 6-3 putting them in the finals. They played MacArther in the finals winning 6-2, 6-0 earning first place.
Coach Roy Thibideaux says, "this was a wonderful way to start our tournament season, anytime we can bring home medals in 5 different events I feel we accomplished something good."
