COUNTY DEMOCRATS TO HOLD CONVENTION

The Washington County Democrats will have their county convention at the Boys and Girls Club, near Cubs Stadium at 10am Saturday morning.

County Party Chair George Dillingham says they will be choosing 22 delegates to go to the state convention in Dallas in June and they will be considering several resolutions.

Dillingham said local Democrats will take a resolution that would eliminate runoff elections for the party primaries.

There are no runoffs for Washington County Democratic offices but state party leaders are concerned that La Rouche supporter Kesha Rogers made it into a runoff with David Alameel for the U.S. Senate nomination.  The winner will face incumbent Republican John Cornyn.

Dillingham says anyone who voted in the Democratic primary can come to the county convention and vie for a position at the state convention.
