GRIMES CO. COMMISSIONERS TABLE CHOICE ON COUNTY JUDGE

Grimes County commissioners have tabled appointing a new County Judge.

Former Grimes County Judge Ben Leman resigned Friday from his post to run for the Texas House seat being vacated by Leighton Schubert.

Monday, commissioners had planned to appoint the county's only candidate for the primary election, local rancher Joe Fauth.  However, during their meeting, commissioners were told there were others interested in the position.

By the 6 pm filing deadline Monday, another candidate emerged, Mike Pederson, a businessman from Navasota.

The commissioners decided to table plans to make an appointment until Fridays, when they will meet back to review each candidate and make a decision.
