A hat has been thrown into the ring for Washington County Commissioner.

Local businessman Don Koester has announced he will run for Washington County commissioner in Precinct One in the March 2016 Republican primary.  The incumbent in Precinct One is Zeb Heckmann.

Koester is a lifelong resident of Washington County and a 1968 graduate of Brenham High School.  For the past 10 years he has owned and operated Don’s Appliance Service.

In 2005, Koester retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. after 32 years.

Koester is a member of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and the Texas Quality Water Association

“As commissioner, I will be available at all times to the residents of my precinct,” Koester said in a press release. “One of my main areas of concern will be road maintenance and improvement.

“I also plan to keep the citizens informed of the actions taken by the commissioners’ court.”
