LOCAL PLAYWRIGHT WINS NATIONAL AWARD

  

A Brenham High School graduate has received national recognition for her playwriting skills.

Back in December, Alyssa Faykus was one of only two students in the State of Texas to qualify for a national writing contest in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Faykus’ play “Lost and Found” was selected as one of only four national award winners to be workshopped and performed at the International Thespian Festival at the University of Nebraska.

Alyssa plans to attend Stephen F. Austin University in the fall.  She will major in mass communication specializing in advertising and minoring in music.   She also auditioned for the SFA marching band and was selected to play in the band this fall.

Alyssa graduated Brenham High school earlier this month.
