MAJOR MOTION PICTURE COMING SOON TO BRENHAM AREA
A major motion picture that will be produced by RB Film Productions will begin this spring in the Brenham area. Roy Burger, owner and CEO of the company recently finalized agreements with the City of Brenham and Brenham ISD to use properties that they own for this project.
Jennifer Eckermann, manager of Main Street Brenham says that “…Roy will open auditions to local residents in addition to the film stars he will bring in.”
The 109 acre tract located east of Brenham will be the location of Old Brenham. It will be a replicated set of Brenham in the mid-1800s. On the same site, a smaller version of the Old Brenham set will be constructed solely for the purpose of burning it, in order to film the historic fire. These movie sets will be open for tours during and after production of the first film.
Burger plans to establish a production office to house film crews, props, equipment, and more at the former Alton Elementary campus. Tours of this facility will be offered as well.
According to Sharon Brass, historian and local author of “The Burning of Brenham” in which this motion picture is based, says that Burger is arranging for a locomotive, similar to the first one used in 1861, to reside on a spur of the Washington County Railroad during the movie’s production.
Burger says that construction of the sets will begin this spring and the script will be completed at the same time. He goes on to say that their plans are to start shooting by summer.
Wow- we sure do have a lot of people in the area who want to be a part of this! Have fun with it, everyone! This Brenham, Texas girl can’t wait to see the finished product! Ironically, I’m a Pennsylvania girl, these days!
