QUICK ACTION BY FAYETTE COUNTY DEPUTY SAVES MAN

The quick response of a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy may have saved the life of a man attempting suicide on Highway 71 Tuesday.

A passing motorist called in a report of a vehicle with a large amount of blood near it on the east bound side of Highway 71 near the rest stop at Lady Bird Loop between La Grange and Smithville.  Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Bohlmann responded and found a man in the driver’s seat with severe lacerations to the inside of his forearm.  The man told Bohlmann that he wanted to commit suicide, but had been unable to find the magazine for his pistol.  Bohlmann removed a pistol and box cutter from the vehicle, radioed for Fayette County E.M.S., and bandaged the man’s wounds.  He was transported to Seton Smithville Regional Hospital emergency room by EMS for treatment and mental health services.

  1. Without that call he could of bled to death or shot himself, things could’ve gotten much worse. I’m sure a lot of people seen it and just ignored it. Hopefully he gets the help he obviously needs. Thanks to the passing motorist and deputy Bohlmann, his quick thinking saved this mans life.
