The event will begin at 5 p.m. in the historic Schuetzenhalle (Rifle Association Hall) at 710 FM 1457 in Round Top. The crowning of the new Schuetzenkoenig (shooting king) will commence at 6 p.m. The title of being Schuetzenkoenig is the result of an intensive shooting competition held early on Sunday morning.

Last year’s Schuetzenkoenig, Dillon Marburger, will be challenged by approximately 30 of his fellow Schuetzen for the esteemed honor of wearing the crown made of cedar and having the gold medal pinned on his shirt.  In addition, the new Koenig, will have the honor and pleasure of buying, tapping and serving a keg of beer to all of his new subjects.  To continue a more recent tradition, the ceremonial keg of beer is imported from Munich Germany and is of the old gravity flow style.

After the crowning ceremony, the Donnie Wavra Band will provide the musical entertainment till 8:30 p.m.  All of these activities are free of charge and the public is invited to share in this time honored tradition called Schuetzenfest.  For more information, visit www.roundtoprifle.com.
