On Saturday night, Madison Coskey and Cash Kunkel each participated in the Schrader 1600 held at Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park.  The meet is always held the weekend between Regionals and State and hosts multiple heats of the 1600.

According to Coach Trenton Hall:

"Madison chose to participate because she wanted one more chance to race fast at the end of the season.  She continued training hard for 2 more weeks after her UIL season ended at the Area meet and she walked away with a 6 second Personal Record in the 1600.  Her time of 5:25.64 placed her fourth in her heat (https://trackmeet.io/meets/1155/events/35102?heat=13)."

"As a state qualifier, Cash used the race as a tune-up to prepare for this Friday's races.  Cash finished 7th in the men's fast heat with a new Personal Record of 4:18.57 which moves him up to #2 in the state in 5A as he heads into the UIL State Championships.  (https://trackmeet.io/meets/1155/events/35102?heat=15)  Most of his late season races have been tactical races where he needed to focus more on racing that going for fast times.  The Schrader 1600 was an opportunity for him to go for a fast time in a race with fast competition.
