TWO SUSPECTS BUSTED FOR POST OFFICE BURLARIES

Two suspects have been charged with burglarizing mailboxes in Brenham, Old Washington, Burton and Chappell Hill and several surrounding areas a few weeks ago.

U.S. Postal Service Investigators say 39-year old Charles Hattenback and 28-year old Kathryn Hubbert were arrested soon after the burglaries.  The two were captured after being under surveillance in Temple.

Investigators say Hattenback and Hubbert began breaking into parcel and post office drop boxes in the end of December.  They allegedly expanded their operation in February.

The outdoor mailboxes in Brenham, Burton, Chappell Hill  and Old Washington were hit the weekend of March 8th and 9th

Reports say the two were under suspicion  when a Dallas police officer stopped found more than 400 pieces of U.S. Mail, three crow bars and a face mask during a traffic stop.

The burglaries continued however and a tracking device was put in their truck.  The burglaries took place from an area as far west as Midland and far east to College Station.  The burglaries gain access to a safe and stole cash, postage and blank money orders.

The suspects are scheduled to be arrainged on federal charges in a Federal courtroom in Waco on April 8th.
