UNEMPLOYMNET DOWN IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

  

Unemployment in Washington County was down in the month of July according to numbers released today (Friday) by the Texas Workforce Commission.  Unemployment fell to 4.6 percent in Washington County compared to 4.8 percent in June.  Last year, the July unemployment was at 5.8 percent in the county.

Of the nearby counties, Fayette County had the lowest unemployment in July at 3.3 percent.  Grimes County had the highest at 5.6 percent.  Statewide, unemployment in Texas went down to 4.3 percent in July compared to 4.7 percent in June.  National unemployment is at 4.6 percent compared to 5.1 percent a year ago.
