WASHINGTON COUNTY DEPUTY TO BE HONORED BY STATE OF TEXAS
Don Wass, a Washington County deputy who was killed in a traffic accident in 2006, will be honored by the state of Texas during the Star of Texas Awards ceremony.
Wass, 35, of Bellville, died in a traffic accident on Highway 36 South in Austin County as he was reporting for duty. He was a nearly 10-year veteran of the Sheriff’s office.
The Star of Texas Awards, which will take place on September 12th this year, honors all Texas officers, firefighters, and emergency medical first responders who are killed or seriously hurt in the line of duty. Lt. Dan Houston, of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, submitted Wass’ name for the award.
During the ceremony, Wass’ family will receive a medal and certificate in his honor.
