GERMAN CHORAL GROUP TO HOLD FREE CONCERT IN BRENHAM

  

A choral group from Greifswald, Germany will perform alongside the Blinn College choir on Tuesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brenham.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

Directed by Dr. Sigrid Biffar, the 12 members of the Late Night Singers will perform alongside members of the Brazos Valley Chorale and Blinn students. The group’s repertoire includes works from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, and the concert will include choral music of the 20th and 21st centuries with arrangements of pop music and international folk music.

Biffar will teach a master class to the Blinn choir students prior to the concert.

“There are many people of German heritage in Brenham, and the Blinn choir students will have a chance to experience German music with a great German ensemble,” said Dr. Paulo Gomes, Director of Choral Studies.

“There is a lot of German heritage in Brenham and the choir students will experience songs from a German group,” said Dr. Paulo Gomes, Director of Choral Studies.

Coordinating the international music exchange program with Greifswald are the Bryan-College Station Sister Cities Association and the Brazos Valley Chorale, in conjunction with the Goethe Institute of Germany.
